OAK LAWN, IL – In less than four months since starting sales in late September, Prairie Town Center in Oak Lawn is more than 60 percent sold, said David Strosberg, president and CEO of Chicago-based Morningside Group. Groundbreaking for the new-construction development is scheduled for the first quarter of 2007, with first move-ins expected in the spring of 2008.
Located just southwest of the intersection of 95th Street and Cook Avenue in downtown Oak Lawn, the six-story building will include 70 residences in ten distinct floor plans. Homes feature either one bedroom and one-and-a-half baths, or two bedrooms and two baths. Residences range in size from 844 square feet to 1,461 square feet. Base prices for the remaining homes at Prairie Town Center are from $184,900 to $315,900. One heated, indoor parking space and individual storage lockers are included with each home. Exterior parking is also available.
“We offer a variety of floor plans to suit people at different stages of their lives, from first-time buyers to empty-nesters,” said Barb Morris, director of sales for Morningside Group. “We really care about finding people the right home at the right price, with a monthly payment they can comfortably afford—and with the space, comfort and conveniences they’re looking for.”
Standard features at Prairie Town Center include private balconies; kitchens with furniture-quality cabinetry and 42-inch upper cabinets; baths with a choice of vanity styles and finishes, and cultured-marble tops in a variety of colors; nine-foot ceilings in all living spaces, per plan; and walk-in closets or dressing rooms in master bedrooms, per plan. The building will feature a brick-and-stone façade complemented by professional landscaping. A licensed architect, Mr. Strosberg personally oversees the design and construction of all Morningside Group properties.
With its location in Oak Lawn’s central business district, Prairie Town Center will be a short walk from a host of local stores and restaurants—including Freshline Grocery, Starbucks Coffee, Potbelly Sandwich Works, Jimmy John’s Gourmet Subs, Cold Stone Creamery, and Hollywood Video. The Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn and the Oak Lawn Public Library also are nearby, as are Chicago Ridge Mall and Stoney Creek Golf Course. Additional retail is coming to the area; ground has been broken on an 18,000-square-foot retail center that will accompany Prairie Town Center and sit between the homes and 95th Street.
A 25-year real estate veteran, Mr. Strosberg founded Morningside Group in 1993. In addition to its Prairie Town Center property, the company is currently marketing homes at its Arbor Court development (located a few blocks from Prairie Town Center in Oak Lawn), and at SkyLofts MarketSquare in Royal Oak, Mich., and Liberty Lofts in Ann Arbor.
