FORT SHERIDAN PLACE LUXURY RENTALS

North Shore luxury without the North Shore price tag

After graduating from the University of Wisconsin and securing a job as an actuary in Lake Forest, Andrew Norby fell in love with the suburbs dotting the North Shore.  He did quite a bit of apartment hunting in the area, but was put off by the steep rental prices, until he visited Fort Sheridan Place Luxury Rentals in Highwood.  “I never expected I’d be able to afford my own place near Lake Forest.  Fort Sheridan Place surprised me because it was one of the nicest places I saw and it worked within my budget,” Norby said.  He is now enjoying the spaciousness of his one-bedroom residence, and the fact that everything is new and fresh.  “It feels great because everything is new … the kitchen, the carpeting, even the windows.”

Andrew’s mother, Paulette Norby, was in town with Andrew’s two sisters to celebrate Easter, so she prepared a ham and Easter brunch with all the fixings.  “It was a pleasure to do my holiday cooking in this kitchen.  The appliances are wonderful!  I’m so glad that Andrew is here.  The apartment is very private and feels like a small home.  As a mom, I’m also glad to see him in an area that is so safe and comfortable.”  Andrew also said the helpful staff really makes the development feel like home.  “Everyone who works here is very responsive and friendly.  The development is impressive inside and out, and the management keeps making it better and better.” Andrew is looking forward to walking to restaurants and exploring the nightlife in Highwood with the onset of warmer weather, as well as enjoying the nearby lakefront.

Young, professional couple Sunil Anand and Princy Prarhakaran recently moved to the Chicago area from New York City.  Sunil works in Lake Forest, and the couple happened onto Fort Sheridan Place one evening after enjoying dinner at trendy Miramar restaurant in Highwood, just down the street from Fort Sheridan Place.  They were immediately impressed by the “calmness of the setting” and the friendliness of the staff.  “When we toured an apartment, we were blown away. Everything was brand new, and the design and layout really appealed to us,” Anand said.  The couple leased a one-bedroom unit, and have been very pleased with their choice.  “We’re really enjoying living here.  We love the balcony and the view, and are enjoying cooking dinner at home.  All of the appliances are well made and beautiful to look at as well.  Plus the rent is very reasonable.  Other, similar apartments were much more expensive.”  The couple also praised the development’s amenities.  “We work out in the fitness center and it feels like our own private health club.  The equipment is top quality and there’s even a 40” flat screen television for entertainment.”

Fort Sheridan Place Luxury Rentals offers new fully renovated one-, two-, and three-bedroom residences for immediate occupancy. The 634 Sheridan Road building, located at the north side of the property, is the first building to be renovated during the development’s phased program.

To date, 75 percent of the first building’s residences have been fully renovated with granite countertops in the kitchens and bathrooms, black Frigidaire appliances, new carpeting, cherry stained wood cabinetry and new windows.  The remaining 25 percent of the units are currently under construction and will be available later this month for occupancy.

Additionally, the residences offer individually controlled heat, central air conditioning and a large private patio or balcony.  A furnished designer model is available for viewing, featuring two spacious bedrooms, gracious dining and living rooms, and a private patio.  Currently, 60 percent of the available residences in the 634 Sheridan Road building are leased.

Construction will begin on Phase II, the 624 Sheridan Road building, in June.  Within each of the three mid-rise buildings are five individual tiers, each with its own entry, elevator bank and laundry rooms on each floor.  This unique “building within a building” design creates a boutique feeling within the larger buildings.

According to Morningside president David Strosberg, “This distinctive feature helps to create a more intimate environment.  With only 14 to 20 units per tier, residents can easily get to know their neighbors and enjoy a real sense of community.”  The property’s common areas have also been extensively renovated with new elevator lobbies, elevator interiors and corridor finishes.

Each building will feature its own fitness center equipped with cardiovascular machines, strength training equipment and flat-screen televisions.  New storage rooms with bike racks have also been added to accommodate residents who enjoy the scenic bike paths near the property.

Additionally, extensive work is being done outdoors to transform the overall appearance of the development.  A lush, professionally designed landscaping plan has been installed, including mature trees, flowerbeds and a new irrigation system to ensure the proper maintenance of the plantings.  Each of the buildings will feature newly enhanced building facades, new slate-style mansard roofing and resurfaced outdoor parking. To date, the exterior of the entire north building has been fully renovated.  All new site lighting and new fencing along Sheridan Road completes the new look and feel of the property.

Ultimately, the development will offer a total of 252 residences.  Located on seven acres on Sheridan Road, Fort Sheridan Place Luxury Rentals represents the only luxury rental development in the Highwood downtown community.

Strosberg, a resident of neighboring Highland Park, is an avid cyclist who took note of the expansive property’s ideal location and the potential of Highwood’s lively downtown during years of Sheridan Road bike rides.  “I have long been drawn to the natural beauty of this area with its proximity to Lake Michigan and close knit community.  I’ve watched the downtown grow to feature art galleries, theater and an influx of new restaurants that have joined the already notable restaurant scene.  We are thrilled to be able to invest in this thriving community, and offer high quality luxury rental residences with excellent schools, easy access to the natural beauty of Lake Michigan and all of the offerings of downtown Highwood.”

“Fort Sheridan Place offers the very best rental opportunity on the North Shore with luxury finishes and spacious floorplans at a great price. It is gratifying to see our dream coming to fruition with so many residents enjoying what we have built,” Strosberg said.
