Director of Acquisitions

Morningside Group is currently seeking a Director of Acquisitions who will source, analyze and close investment opportunities for commercial, residential, and mixed-use properties.

Responsibilities

  • Perform financial modeling and analysis
  • Negotiate with seller or seller’s representatives
  • Coordinate and manage due diligence and management of the closing process
  • Interact and assist with asset management, construction management, and finance as required for the transaction
  • Coordinate with EVP and CEO to develop a business plan for new acquisitions
  • Prepare market analysis for each acquisition and also for overall market activity, drivers and trends
  • Develop and maintain relationships with brokers, owners, developers, and professional service providers as required to maintain knowledge of market activity and a pipeline of properties

Qualifications

The ideal candidate works well with minimal supervision, is a team player, takes initiative and is willing to dedicate the time that is necessary to get the job done. The position requires strong leadership, communication, organizational skills and the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics or related disciplines from a four year top-tier university
  • Seven or more years of relevant experience in real estate investments, private equity, or investment banking
  • Proficiency in complex financial modeling
  • Strong analytical, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Experience managing multiple opportunities and stages of acquisition simultaneously
  • Proven track record of successful acquisitions in Chicago metro market
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and strong work ethic, combined with keen sense of priorities in execution
  • Ability to travel
