Mary Ellen Martin

Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer

Mary Ellen is head of Morningside’s Seattle office where she is responsible for all aspects of development including site acquisition, design, entitlements, leasing, financing, construction, marketing, asset management, and disposition. Prior to opening the Seattle office in 2017, she played a leading role in the creation of Morningside’s Chicago portfolio as the company’s Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President.

Mary Ellen’s expertise is in creative and complex projects including public-private partnerships, tax increment financing, and adaptive re-use of historic buildings. She has had a variety of speaking engagements with real estate organizations including Urban Land Institute, CREW, Metropolitan Planning Council, and the International Council of Shopping Centers.

Prior to joining Morningside in 2005, Mary Ellen was a building project manager with Walsh Construction Company where she specialized in multifamily and hi-rise construction projects.

She received a BS in Civil Engineering from the McCormick School of Engineering with a minor in Art History from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. She is a member of the Urban Land Institute and the Commercial Real Estate Executive Women, CREW.

She currently resides in Kirkland with her husband and three kids who all share a love for sailing and the outdoors.
